This year, the 6th/7th Grade Band has the opportunity to travel! Saturday, May 14th, we have a trip planned to perform at a band contest at Wilmington High School and then spend the rest of the day at Kings Island. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase our talented middle school ensemble outside of our normal community and reward our students for the tremendous work they have all put in this year.
The cost of the trip will be $60 per student and $40 per chaperone. This will cover the cost of the band contest, a park ticket, and help with bussing fees. This will not cover the cost of food. We will be stopping at McDonald’s between the festival and the park, and a second time after we leave the park that evening. We will bring coolers for students who wish to pack.
Small payments may be made so as to not have the expence all at one time. Half of the payment is due by March 8th, the second half is due April 7th. Refunds for students no longer participating can be given out until April 13th. After that date, payments are not able to be refunded.
A reduced rate is offered for students who already have a season pass to Kings Island or whose parents will be taking them home directly after the contest without visiting the park. Fundraising efforts are currently being discussed within the Band Boosters to help defray the cost for students. Please contact me if you have any financial concerns.
Exact departure and arrival times will only be known closer to the event; but we do know that we will be leaving sometime early in the morning (between 6am and 11am) and arriving back at the school around 10pm.
This event is in no way required, but in order to sound our best, we will need as many people at the band festival as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!
A interest slip will be sent home a week from today on the first day of school asking for chaperones and any special information!
I am beyond excited for this opportunity! See you when you get back from break!
