Community Show (9/18)
I got *numerous* notes of thank you and praise from the Bainbridge community about our "show" downtown on Friday. I don't know if you fully grasp the impact you have on our community. Where ever we go, we elevate those around us. You did a good thing. Let's do it again this week!
Reminders on logistics:
Ride over to Bainbridge in the same fashion we got used for Last Blast rehearsals (through a short car pool). Jared's truck was incredibly helpful getting instruments there. If you happen to drive a truck and could assist with large instrument transport there and back, that would be helpful! We'll practice 3:30-4:30, take a short break, and then run through our shows until we're all played out (end between 5:00 and 5:15). You should be all good to go by 5:30.
Oak Hill Band Show (9/19)
All tickets are now fair game! If you would like to purchase additional tickets (more than 2), please purchase them now before 9/16. After Thursday, our un-purchased tickets will be released to anyone else who requests one from any other band.
We are also shooting to perform the Senior Show this Saturday! So this week will be incredibly important!
Finally, we are looking for someone who may be able to pull the band trailer down to Oak Hill this Saturday. If you are heading down to watch your child anyway and have a vehicale that could pull a small trailer, please let me know! (e-mail)
Here are some of the key details:
- Call time Saturday is 4:30p
- We are up first @Oak Hill during the second block at 7:30p
- Masks are required of all band members and spectators when not physically playing or eating - bring your Bearcat Masks!
- I have two Bearcat Masks in the band room that were left on the floor.
- This requirement applies for people when distancing, too.
- It has been recommended for students to bring a lawn chair to be able to sit on the track to watch the other groups.
- Tickets
- Pre-sale $5, no tickets at gate
- PV has 50 seats blocked out for our band.
- Any tickets left over from any band on 9/16 will be open for anyone to purchase.
- To purchase tickets:
- Follow this link
- Click "buy tickets" and find PV Band
- Use the code "paintvalleyband202"
- Each cart can only hold 2 tickets at a time. While I don't think we will be bringing 50 parents to Jackson, please limit to buying 2 tickets until this Friday. After Friday, go ahead and purchase as many as you like.
For more information on the Oak Hill event, please see my previous post on the topic.
Senior Night (9/25)
Seniors, if she hasn't already, Mrs. Brill should be sending out a survey for you to fill out to create the script for Senior Night. Details for parents will be out when I have them. I am hopeful that the ticket situation will be at least as good as last game where upperclassmen are allotted 4 tickets each and each other performer will be allotted 2. This may change for Senior Night as this will likely be the last football game our seniors have on this field.
I will keep you in the loop as I know more!
Friday Night Food
Here is a link to the schedule the team came up with for feeding the band Friday nights. For quick reference here is the schedule of Friday night food:
- Game 3: Low Brass + Flutes/Clarinets
Thank you to the parents who were able to come to help out with this. Special thank you to Amy Johnson and Mindi Campbell who have kept me honest about third quarter. Our next game isn't for another week!
Ross County Marching Festival (10/4)
RCMF is on for Sunday, October 4! The Ross County Band Directors Association is meeting once more this Monday (9/14) to go over further details. I will give another update after that meeting. Two things I do know now:
- There will be limited spectators.
- A mask mandate for all people in the stadium (performers and spectators) who are not physically playing or eating - even if distanced.
Last Blast (10/16)
Our Last Blast Concert is currently scheduled for Friday, October 16 in the Elementary School Gym. The student leadership team is working on our seating capacity and we'll have "tickets" to help keep us within state laws for large gatherings. We will also need to follow all regulations on masks and distancing.
Additionally, we are looking to wrap our end-of-season awards banquet into this night. The reason for this is 1) the logistical struggle of creating a banquet with COVID regulations and 2) the ease of not adding additional dates onto the calendar.
We'll attempt to make a secondary "cook out" for just the kids for Senior Awards and to otherwise bookend the season. Keep a look out for that date in the comming weeks.
More details will come out as the leadership team works to refine the event. I will be sure to keep you appraised of key decisions.

See you soon!
